73rd USBGA National Championship

August 25 - 29, 2018

The 2018 golf season is just about here. The United States Blind Golf Association (USBGA) is pleased to announce the 2018 USBGA 73rd National Championship will be held August 25 - 29 at the Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tennessee.

 

The entry fee of $150 will be used to pay for four nights at the La Quinta Inn & Suites, three rounds of golf including range balls each round at the Hermitage Golf Course Generals Retreat course, complimentary breakfast each day at La Quinta, lunch on the course on Monday and Tuesday, welcome reception with a BBQ buffet on Sunday and an Awards Banquet with a sit down dinner after completion of play on Tuesday. The dinner choices are Filet Mignon, Smoked Salmon and Stuffed Chicken Breast. If participating, please complete the entry form and send with your entry fee.

 

Players should plan to arrive on Saturday, August 25 and depart on Wednesday, August 29. There is Airport transportation to the La Quinta Inn from the Nashville International Airport. Players and coaches wishing to rent cars can do so at the Nashville International Airport which is 2 miles away from the La Quinta Inn. If a player does not want to rent a car, Uber and Lynx are another option.

 

A complimentary breakfast will be served at the La Quinta Inn & Suites every morning. Week days breakfast is from 6-9 and weekends from 7-10. The USBGA Annual General Meeting will occur on Monday after the competition is completed.

 

The practice round will be held on Sunday, August 26. A starting time sheet will be made by the Tournament Committee and players will be informed prior to the practice day. Coaches wishing to play will be charged a $20 fee which will need to be included with the $150 entry fee. The Welcome Reception will be held at Hermitage Golf Course with the Players-Coaches Meeting following dinner.

 

The first day of competition will be Monday, August 27and we will be playing on the Generals Retreat Course at Hermitage Golf Course. A box lunch will be provided and the AGM will be held at the completion of play. Players will be on their own for dinner.

 

The final day of the tournament will be held on Tuesday, August 28. Lunch will again be provided. The Awards Banquet will be held at the Hermitage Golf Course and jacket and tie for men and dress or pant suit for women will be required.

 

Air Travel:

Players will fly into the Nashville International Airport. The airport is 2 miles away from the La Quinta Inn & Suites.

 

Lodging:

The La Quinta Inn & Suites Nashville Airport-Opryland is located in Nashville, Tennessee. The address is 2345 Atrium Way, Nashville, TN 37214. The phone number is 615-885-3000. There are a few smoking rooms available and you must note that on your entry form. All the rooms have two double beds. Check in time is 3 PM and check out is noon.

 

Players wanting additional days at the La Quinta Inn & Suites must call La Quinta at 615-885-3000 to make their own reservations since we have no set rates for extra nights. There is a big concert going on at the same time as the tournament and room rates will be very high so you better call La Quinta ASAP to make reservations.

 

Golf Course:

The Hermitage Golf Course is located 10 miles away from the La Quinta Inn & Suites. The phone number is: 615-847-4001. The address is: 3939 Old Hickory Boulevard, Old Hickory, Tennessee 37138. Hermitage Golf Course has two courses and we will be playing the Generals Retreat Course.

 

As in previous USBGA tournaments, the USGA Rules of Golf and the Modifications of the Rules of Golf for Golfers with Disabilities will be followed. All B1 participants will be required to wear blackout glasses, so please bring your own pair of sunglasses and blackout material will be available.
